In a perfect world, everything we put in our kids’ lunches would be fresh, delicious and nutritious. We try our best to please our picky kids, get them to eat healthy foods all while juggling the ba-gillion other things we have going on in our lives. Perhaps that’s why when we heard about the Colorado mom who was shamed for putting Oreos in her daughters’ lunch, we had such a strong reaction. Leeza Pearson’s said her child was not allowed to eat the cookies during lunch. She also got a note home from the teacher, reading in part: “Dear Parents, it is very important that all students have a nutritious lunch. This is a public school setting and all children are required to have a fruit, a vegetable and a heavy snack from home, along with a milk. If they have potatoes, the child will also need bread to go along with it. Lunchables, chips, fruit snacks, and peanut butter are not considered to be a healthy snack. This is a very important part of our program and we need everyone’s participation.” . Read more about the incident HERE
