Craft Beer becomes more Popular
The popularity of drinking craft beer has increased over the past few years but maybe you are still unfamiliar with this growing trend. Craft beers are defined as being made from a smaller brewery usually making less than 6 million barrels in a year.
According to Top of the Hops Beer Fest there are many reasons to switch over the drinking a craft beer. For starters they tend to have more flavors because smaller breweries put more time and effort into creating and experimenting with ingredients. Many breweries will have seasonal beers where every season will bring a new flavor different from last year. You can often meet with the person behind the beer at the local brewery and learn how they came up with their beer flavor combination. Talking about craft beer has become more of a social activity than just drinking traditional beer from a major manufacturer.
Here in Michigan we are now the 5th largest craft beer state and it continues to grow. Most Americans are less than 10 miles from a local craft brewery so there are plenty of places to check out this growing trend. You can find tours of breweries on the Pure Michigan website by clicking here. Downtown Detroit will be getting the states largest craft beer bar this summer, bringing us another place to try out some local beers.
