ABOUT THE DAKOTA INN RATHSKELLER:
Few places embody Detroit’s rich history and character quite like The Dakota Inn Rathskeller. Opened by Karl Kurz in 1933, the beloved beer hall remained under the stewardship of the Kurz family for more than 90 years before beginning a new chapter under Lynch & Sons in 2025.
Inside, guests are transported to another era with hand-painted Bavarian artwork, warm wood accents, communal tables, and old-world German charm. The Dakota Inn has welcomed generations of Detroiters for Oktoberfest celebrations, legendary piano sing-alongs, and unforgettable gatherings, earning its place as one of the city’s most iconic and enduring destinations.
