Rickie Fowler Triumphs in Rocket Mortgage Classic, Claims First PGA Tour Title in Four Years

DETROIT July 2, 2023 ~ After scoring a birdie Sunday afternoon, professional golfer Rickie Fowler could call himself a PGA Tour winner for the first time in four years.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic concluded July 2 with a win from Fowler, his first major golf victory since the 2019 WM Phoenix. He outscored golfers Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin in the tournament playoff at the Detorit Golf Club.

(CONTINUED) Golfers and spectators braved through a rainy Sunday, though this did not hinder Fowler’s performance. He made three birdies in his first seven holes, followed by 10 pars. His final birdie at hole 18 caught him up to Hadwin and Morikawa. 

Fowler, 34, finished 24-under par at the Rocket Mortgage Classic Sunday. He was listed at 35 in the PGA World Golf Ranking before the Rocket Mortgage Classic results were factored in.

Earlier in the day, golfer Max Homa scored a hole-in-one on the 15th-hole, becoming third player in the Rocket Mortgage Classic to do so.
