Cranbrook Institute of Science, Detroit
The 9th Annual Great Lakes Bat Festival will be held this summer at the Cranbrook
Institute of Science (Michigan). A special keynote speaker will kick off the Bat
Festival July 30th at 7pm. On Saturday, July 31st, the festival will include
presentations by authors, bat experts and field biologists. Also featured are
live animal programs, kids’ activities, exhibits, an evening BBQ, and a bat research
demonstration. The festival is for all ages and free of charge with museum admission.

"Through African Eyes: The European in African Art, 1500 to Present" at The DIA

On April 18 through August 8, it's "Through African Eyes: The European in African Art, 1500 to Present" at The DIA. This groundbreaking exhibition looks at the dynamic history through African perspectives. Tickets for adults are $12, adult groups of 15+ are $10 (advance reservations required) and Ages 6-17 are $6. Dog Hair and Fur Collection to Help Oil Spill

Camp Bow Wow of Troy and Commerce are collecting dog hair and fur to help soak up the oil from the spill in the Gulf. If you want to donate fur/hair/feathers/natural fibers and used nylons, visit either Camp Bow Wow location or call (248) 583-9247.
Free General Museum Admission at the DIA to Active Miliary Personnel and Their Families
Memorial Day through Labor Day
Memorial Day through Labor Day, the DIA will be offering free general museum admission to active military personnel and their families as part of the Blue Star Museums Program and through a partnership of the National Endowment of the Arts and Blue Star Families. Participating Detroit Area Pizza Hut Restaurants will be donating 20% of proceeds from the “True Zoo Family Deal for $19.99” to the Detroit Zoo, now through September 30, 2010. Visit Taco Bell in Michigan to Help Humane Society
Pete Lyders owns 105 Taco Bell locations throughout Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan is partnering with 12 Humane Society’s to raise money for local shelters. Shelters rely on donations, volunteers and service fees. Each Humane Society has designed their own canister and will be placed in local Taco Bells. Pete has vowed to match all donations at the year’s end. $4500 has been raised so far in the last four months.
Weekly Afternoon Worship Service
